”How Did We Get Here”
/// Austin was always an early riser. After last night, it took a whole lot of apologies, and then Austin had to break out sexual moves that he knew Todrick Tabor was not used to. He was lucky in that sense because Todrick was inexperienced sexually, and he was the one that finally broke the barrier and took his virginity. Todrick had made him work for it, but the path of their relationship had been on the fast track.
Once Austin sealed the deal, he knew that Todrick was not going anywhere. Austin meant every word that had been spoken, and he loved Todrick, but then tragedy struck. The accident, he was never to be the same after that. Todrick never left his side, and Austin was grateful. Everything was fine until it was time to take off those bandages, and he was handed a mirror. Finally, Austin understood Two-Face in the Batman comics and what he went through at that moment. The doctor began to unwrap the bandages, and everyone held their breath.
He looked different. They all saw it before he did. To Todrick, he was still just as handsome as ever. Austin’s vision was blurry and slowly came into focus. Who was this man he was looking at in the mirror? He was lost, he was hurt, he was angry. Todrick did his absolute best to be supportive, but it was not enough for Austin at that moment. They were trying to rehab him immediately, and he was not having it. He flung the mirror and thus began the downward spiral and his unraveling.
When he was released, there were no traces of his battle with Le’Andra Fury that had happened so long ago. He had proven that he did not hold back when he faced women and defeated her with a solid victory. All traces of any previous battle in his life when it came to his face had been erased. Even the carnage he faced at Thankless Intent, at the hands of Brandon Moore and the Three Bastards, had been erased. He should be able to move forward with ease, but that was not the case. He felt insecure about who he was and how he looked. Previously, he knew that he was cute and had looks that would make anyone want him, now there was a gaping pit of doubt.
Todrick did all he could in the coming days to reassure Austin, but there was no breaking through. The only thing that rose to the surface was anger. That anger was pitched at Todrick relentlessly. The relationship that everyone knew and loved had morphed into something dark and hideous. Todrick kept silent and endured Austin’s wrath, but eventually, it began to take its toll. Unbeknownst to him, Austin started to seek validation, and it was a validation that Todrick could not give.
Austin knew Todrick was not going anywhere and that he was so busy wrapped up in his new fame from The Life that he would not be paying close attention to his moves. That is when the cheating began. Austin had been patient with Todrick and his naivety when it came to sex because he was a virgin, but that had passed. Austin had never lied to Todrick about being bisexual, and he immediately broke their pact. He could only sleep with girls that Todrick approved of, and Todrick could only sleep with guys Austin approved of.
Austin began to sleep with everyone that lusted after him. When he reached his final thrust, he still felt just as empty as he did when he started. Todrick had no idea that any of this was going on, but he got suspicious when he got DMs from people on Twitter about Austin. Austin was cautious, and he had the gift of gab, so he never got caught. Whenever Todrick was close, he’d just be extremely nasty, push him away, and then pull him back in with make-up sex.
Austin did not want to be this monster, but he could not control it. It sounded stupid, and he did love Todrick; he just did not know precisely what he needed. Back in the present, Austin took a sip of his coffee and took in the views of the city. It was beautiful here, and he felt at peace. He took out his phone and sent a good morning text to Alexis Hunter, a significant factor in the mayhem of the previous night. Austin knew he should not be texting her after having things lobbed at him via a baseball bat, but he could not help himself.
Todrick knew he was bisexual when they entered this relationship, and they had even worked out a deal that would allow him to sleep with a woman if Todrick was fine with it. Todrick could sleep with other men that Austin was fine with. Austin knew that he would be getting the better end of the deal because Todrick did not want anyone else. It was something about Alexis that made him “grow” just thinking about her.
The episode last night was worse than his match with Le’Andra Fury a while back. It was worse than Thankless Intent. It was significantly more dangerous with his reconstructed face. He would be cleared to compete at Grudgematch, but at that moment, Todrick did not care. Austin had been reckless, and he knew it. The mood swings were uncalled for, and he did not mean to be so cruel to Todrick, but he could not help himself. Sometimes he picked a fight so that he could get out of the house and go cruising for sex with strangers. He enjoyed seeing the lust in their eyes when they looked at him. The way they could not wait until they got home was exciting. Them begging him to take them in an alley fueled his ego and fed the monster.
Todrick was unaware for a while, but Austin got sloppy. Part of him wondered if he wanted to get caught. His hold on Todrick was undeniable. Pissing Sam off was a bonus and a dangerous yet fun game to him. Todrick was his, and he did not need a support system. Sam and Akasha had to go. They were always in Todrick’s ear about something, and Austin felt like a third wheel. “Fuck them” they should respect the boundaries of his relationship and that he was the alpha male. He told Todrick what to do and what made him happy, and they were getting in the way. He began driving that wedge last night, and if Sam got violently angry, that would seal the deal. It was bliss to see him blackout last night in the arena. It made it so easy to get Todrick out of there and alone.
Austin knew that he needed to keep exposing Todrick to new things, and he would be sprung. He was confident and cocky because he knew what he had, and a smaller sized man would never be able to give Todrick what he gave him. Big things definitely came in small packages when it came to him. A cocky smirk was plastered on his face as he adjusted himself through his pants. That thought of Alexis made him have to readjust. Austin was battling duality in his head, and he knew it. He just did not know how to control the two sides. ///

”Phase II, Part I: Vacation”
/// Austin and Todrick are sitting at the bar in the airport waiting to board their plane to take them to Hawaii. Todrick did not want to drink at all, but Austin had insisted that he have some drinks with him. Todrick could see the transformation from Jekyll to Hyde in his eyes with each protest. Austin leaned in and grabbed Todrick’s hand, and whispered into his ear. He was careful in that way so that no one else heard him in these moments. So much for doing better. ///
Austin: Babe, just have the fucking drink. You don’t want to fight, do you? I mean, I have this whole trip planned, and I just want to have a god d__n drink. Is that too much to ask?
/// Todrick looked around, and as his eyes begin to fill up with water, he thought about where he was and what the blogs would say. Thanks to his status as a reality television star and a wrestler, someone was always watching. Austin was also going to be a main cast member in the upcoming season, so it was double the trouble. Austin released his tight grip on Todrick’s hand and ordered the drinks. When they came, he glared at Todrick until he took a sip. Once he was satisfied, he began to drink his drink. He turned and looked at Todrick and began speaking normally. ///
Austin: I’m super excited about this trip. I have so much planned for you. I want to treat you like the Queen that you are. I love you, Babe!
/// What the fuck is this? Todrick thought to himself. Who is this sitting next to me right now? Todrick was so brainwashed at this point that he began to make excuses for Austin’s behavior. Austin was none the wiser, and he continued to drink and talk to Todrick. Phase I of this plan concocted last night after he was ejected from the locker room was complete. He had won Todrick back, and when he got him back to the Airbnb, he wore him out with everything he had in him. They had to stop to rehydrate a few times, and Austin knew that was what had to be done.
He made sure to feed Todrick a few more drinks because he needed his inhibitions down when they got on that plane. He was going to make Todrick a card-carrying member of the “mile high club”. Austin saw that Todrick had loosened up, and he looked at his watch. Since he had ordered top-shelf liquor in the Delta SkyClub, he settled the bill and leaned over and gently kissed Todrick. He could see the love in his eyes and gently took his hand as they left the bar.
They proceeded to their gate, and Austin was the perfect gentlemen. He made Todrick feel special. Once they boarded the plane and took their seats in first class, he leaned over and kissed him again. Todrick was hot, and he could tell. He saw the flight attendant was quite enamored with him, and he slipped him a few $100 bills and his phone number to make sure they could slip into the lavatory together unbothered.
Everything worked out beautifully on the plane, and when it landed, Todrick was putty in Austin’s hands. There would be no more fighting this day. Austin kissed him and went and got the rental car. When he got back, he saw the sadness in Todrick’s eyes, and he instantly got pissed. Who would dare fuck this up for him? He saw Todrick looking at his phone, and he gently took it from him. Samuel FUCKING Chatman! He had been Tweeting, and now Todrick was upset. Fuck that guy. He’d deal with him later. He embraced Todrick and held him tight. ///
Austin: Fuck him Babe. I’m right here, and I got you. We are none of his business. It’s us against the world right now.
/// Austin was smart enough not to confront anything dealing with Akasha head-on just yet. Sam, he could combat but not her. He was so loving and attentive towards Todrick, and he pulled him in yet again. Sam had been right two weeks ago when he remarked about how good Austin was. You learn how to manipulate when you are in the streets at a young age, sleeping with men and women for your next meal and a place to stay. You learn the mind and how it works with certain people. Todrick was far from dumb; Austin just had more street smarts.
Austin grabbed the bags, took them out to the lot, and found the Jeep he had rented. He pulled up to the front and got out, and opened Todrick’s door. Todrick smiled as he got in, and Austin smacked his ass before he sat down. Their problems had not followed them here as far as Todrick was concerned. They began the drive towards Downtown Waikiki, and Todrick took in the busy island's sights and sounds. Once they pulled up to the Queen Kapiolani hotel, the valet took over, and the two went and checked in on the Oceanside of the hotel. Austin knew Mountainside would be no good for his plans.
They went up to the top floor, and the suite was sublime. Todrick was in heaven as he took it all in. Austin put his cell phone inside one of his bags, and he guided Todrick towards the bathroom. When they finally emerged, Austin cockily walked over to the bed, picked up his red baseball cap, wrapped in nothing but a towel, and went to the balcony. Todrick, who had his hair wrapped in a towel and a towel covering his upper body, went to the kitchen and fixed their drinks.
He went to the balcony and sat in Austin’s lap as he handed him his drink. Austin put one arm around Todrick, and they stared out at the people on the beach and walking down the strip. ///

/// Austin was swimming in the pool downstairs, and Todrick was watching him, filming with the phone. Being on camera fueled Austin’s ego. When he came to the edge of the pool by Todrick, he made sure to give him a seductive view. ///
Todrick: Austin Ramsey, Fade 2 Black Wrestling, is having a special edition of High Voltage called Grudgematch on Tuesday, 26 January 2021, and you will be facing the reigning Blackout Champion Malk Al-Haq, are you ready for the challenge?
Austin: Austin Ramsey is a Phoenix baby. I’ve been down but never out. I won my match against Le’Andra Fury, silencing all the haters about having an issue with beating women. Then at Thankless Intent, I went through hell at that Fatal-4-Way match, and all the interference from Brandon Moore and the Three Bastards left me bloodied and battered. My soulmate, Todrick, did what he could to level the playing field, but it was simply too much. I allowed myself to become distracted to go and save Todrick from the attack of multiple people. In the end, it would be my undoing, but I don’t blame Todrick at all. I blame Brandon Moore and his inability to fight his own battles, correction, his wife’s inability to breath without his say so. She calls herself the “Baddest Bitch,” but I’m convinced that she can’t take a shit without worrying about Brandon approving of it.
/// Their relationship disgusted him, at least one side of him these days. In many ways, his other half attempted to beat Todrick into the submissive shell that Michelle was, and he didn’t even know it. ///
Austin: As for this week, I am ready. I’m facing the “Angel of Truth” who is only the Blackout Champion because Brandon Moore cheated his way to the top and then couldn’t get the job done. I’m a closer baby. I’m the fucking Phoenix. When I rise from the ashes, after they have all counted me out, I scorch everything in my path, and when I’m done, I’m the last one standing. Malk is going to walk out of this match forever changed.
Todrick: What are your thoughts on the current Blackout Champion’s performance so far?
Austin: Performance? What performance? He is a terrible champion. Since he won the championship, he has made zero efforts to represent the company to up the ratings. The only person doing anything besides myself is Atara Themis as the High Voltage Champion, the best one to date, I might add. But who is Malk? Do the fans talk about him? Even the old pimply-faced, pudgy pieces of shit don’t talk about him. He does absolutely nothing for this company, and I’m sick of it. I’m going to hurt him, blah blah blah, he’ll pay. I’m sure he’ll say all of that.
I’m sure he’ll talk about my ego and how he’ll beat it out of me. I’m sure he’ll downplay the things I do to elevate this company, but that’s because he can’t. He has no media presence, so he does not have to work half as hard as the rest of us. He’s the top champion of the company, for crying out loud. Even Dean Ambrose was forced to have social media when he was in WWE, and this guy gets just to phone it in. Even though Samuel Chatman is obnoxious, who thinks it’s fair that he had to carry the company on social media all by himself because our champion can’t be bothered to maintain his weight, and there is a lot of it. I mean, look at the dude’s profile on the Fade 2 Black website. He doesn’t’ even have a fucking picture!
He is as lazy as they come, and he thinks that just because he is a veteran that he can do the bare minimum around here and come out on top. Travis and Carson need to start asking what have you done for me lately? Because this is pathetic, the OGs are ALL unimpressive, and they don’t even try to inspire the “new” talent. They aren’t leaders in the locker room, and what are they suitable for at this point? Far be it from me to agree with your “brother,” but they are past their prime and should have appeared in the opening show as a “Legends Night” and then faded to black for real.
Todrick: People are saying online that he is more significant than you, and you don’t stand a chance. What is your response to that?
Austin: Big things come in small packages, but you already know that, don’t you?
/// Austin grabs his crotch and shakes it. Todrick laughs aloud and composes himself quickly. ///
Austin: All my life, every opponent has been “bigger” than me, I adapt and yes, look at my history here in Fade 2 Black, they beat me down with all they have but have you ever seen Austin Ramsey quit? No, I’m the fucking Phoenix, and I rise from the ashes. I have always had a hunger and passion for conquering. My spirit and my will make me kick out and continue to fight. No one will EVER take that away from me. They get frustrated because I continue to rise. I have evolved, but the sky still belongs to me.
I’m not resting on my laurels of who I was years ago, but I am forging my future. My destiny is to rise to the top and stay there. I will devour all that enter my path because that is what the Phoenix does. I am reborn and tested by fire, which makes me different from all of them. I am not your champions, your heroes, your safety blanket. I am pure destruction, and destroy I shall. Call your gladiator. He will fall, he is but one Shiar and not the empire. They seek to destroy me, but I will never submit to death’s grip.
I have love supporting me, and I will always fight for my place. When I ask who Malk is, it is because I wonder who he is and what he has to offer. Maybe if he showed us, I would know. I only operate in this truth. He is lacking and cannot show us who he is because he does not honestly know who he is, and that is why he will fall. The Phoenix will burn him in flames, and he will be found wanting. That is not ego; that is truth.

/// Austin and Todrick walk down the strip hand in hand. The bloggers are taking photos of them and hurling questions at them. Austin loves every minute of it, and in a complete reversal of roles, Todrick hates it. All was going well until the cheating allegations got thrown up, and then Austin was pissed. Another hater was trying to ruin his master plan. Todrick sensed what was about to happen and pulled Austin in and calmed him down with reassuring words, even if it hurt.
Austin, who judged Sam’s anger, was in touch with his “dark side” and had to be guided back towards the light. It was so hypocritical, but Todrick would never say that. Austin wasn’t Sam and did not come back as quickly because he hadn’t been through the therapy Sam had. He squeezed Todrick’s hand and roughly pulled him away. It had all come full circle; Hyde was here and on full display. Todrick knew not to give the cameras a reaction. They got to the beach, and Austin rented a spot for them. His grip softened as he gently took Todrick’s hand. He pulled him closer and kissed him.
Todrick was at a loss for words, and this relationship was taking a toll on him that he refused to acknowledge. Austin could not admit it because he was still completely unaware of his other side ruining things for him. The cabana boy came over to set up the chairs and umbrellas, and he flirted with Austin when he thought Todrick wasn’t looking. Austin flirted back in the same fashion and slipped him money as well to keep strong drinks coming.
He took Todrick’s phone and aggressively posted on Twitter. The drinks were flowing through the little man, and he made some mistakes by actively liking and responding to Todrick’s enemies on Twitter. He openly flirted with Alexis Hunter and Paris Aleksander without realizing the damage it might cause later. He went after Sam Chatman relentlessly and just trolled hard. No one was exempt if he didn’t want to fuck you at some point.
This was not the usual Austin. Todrick was unaware because he kept him liquored up, and every chance he got, he found a new and exciting way to “stick it in” because he knew Todrick was inexperienced. Finally, Sam stopped posting. He had run him off the internet, or so he thought. Without Sam posting, Todrick was ripe for the picking. Akasha would never engage in online drama, so he had finally done it. The support system was no more, and all Todrick had was him. The monster sat back in waiting for Grudgematch because he was no longer needed. Austin, the man, was going to be satisfied, and now it was time to indulge Austin, the wrestler. Anyone familiar with X-Men comics knows that the Phoenix’s appetite was insatiable, and Austin was indeed The Phoenix. Only time would tell if he was The Phoenix or The Dark Phoenix.
